Description: "03/28/1980: A pipe bomb exploded next to a pro-Canada billboard near Beaver Hall Hill, Montreal. The 12-inch pipe bomb was filled with black powder, a battery, and a 60-minute manual timer. A hole was ripped in the centre of the 15-foot billboard by the explosion, which occurred sometime before dawn. Despite the fact that the billboard's owners were involved in a labour dispute at the time, there had been no acts of violence involved, and the police believed that the bombing was politically motivated (many other pro-Canada signs had been vandalized in recent months, and the sovereignty-association referendum took place in May). Police investigators linked this and similar attacks over the period of a week."
