Description: "10/23/2007: The Justice and Equality Movement in Sudan attacked the Chinese-run Defra oil field in Kordofan region, which borders Darfur, kidnapping a Canadian and an Iraqi (according to Sudanese media) and giving Chinese and other oil companies a week to leave Sudan. Mohamed Bah Hamdeen, leader of the Kordofan group, said: ""The latest attack is a message to the Chinese companies in particular. The Chinese companies are the biggest investors in the Sudanese oil industry."" He claimed that the hostages were an Iraqi and an Egyptian working for Schlumberger, a U.S-based oil services firm."
