Description: "12/11/2008: A suicide bomber detonated his improvised explosive device at the Abdullah Restaurant at about 1:50 p.m., on the Kirkuk-Arbil road, nine miles north of Kirkuk, At Ta'mim, Iraq. The attack killed 46 civilians, seven children, one popular Turkmen singer, and a Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) branch chief, wounding 104 civilians including several children (one Canadian; 104 Iraqis), and five bodyguards. The attack also damaged the restaurant. It was believed that the intended targets of the bomber were members of the PUK and local Arab tribal leaders who were meeting to discuss resolutions to ethnic tensions in Kirkuk, prior to a scheduled meeting with President Jalal Talibani. No group claimed responsibility, but the United States military blamed this attack on Al Qaida in Iraq (AQI)."
