Description: "00/00/2009: RCMP officers shot to death Jeffrey Scott Hughes, a white supremacist involved with the Canadian branch of the “Northwest Imperative”, after police were called to his apartment in response to a noise complaint. The RCMP testified that Hughes was shot after he came out of his apartment holding what was believed to be a weapon (which was later determined to be a flare gun) and pointed it at an officer. Several years earlier, the RCMP visited Hughes at his home, responding to hate propaganda he had been distributing. Hughes also had a history of violence, including assault and bomb threats. "
