Description: "02/24/2013: At least 50 unidentified assailants stormed a gold mine operated by Canadian company El Dorado, and its Greek subsidiary Hellenic Gold, in the Skouries area of Greeceā€™s Chalkidiki peninsula. The attack did not cause any casualties; however, the attackers set fore to mining equipment including bulldozers, trucks and portacabins. Some media reports claimed the attack was carried out by environmentalist activists angered by the effects the mining project would have on the environment and local economy, while others stated it was carried out by activists angered about the compensation payment received by the Greek government from El Dorado."
